"Happy Diwali and Govardhana pooja to Everyone"

Let us celebrate this diwali fourth day by knowing the story of celebrating Govardhana Pooja ЁЯСЗЁЯСЗ

Wish everyone Happy Govardhan pooja

Krishna is the major deity of Hinduism who is the eighth incarnation of the Lord Vishnu. According to Bhagawata purana and many other puranas, there is an awesome story about little krishna who lifted the Govardhanagiri Mountain at the very small age seven.

Once upon a time, Lord krishna was living in the city named Braj which is also known as Mathura Mandal. At that time, Braj was ruled by Nandha Maharaj who is raised the Little Krishna. All the people of Braj used to worship the lord Indra every year. As every year they do, all the people including elders and the king planned to worship the lord Indra who is the god of rain and storm when krishna was only seven years old. They used to worship and please Lord Indra because they believed that he blessed them with prosperity and rain at required time.

But, Little Krishna thought that Govardhana hills provided the people with the pleasant nature and he also thought that these hills are responsible for the prosperity of their village. So, he pleased Nandha Maharaj and people to worship Govardhana hills. People agreed to the little Krishna's words and they worshipped the Govardhana hills. This attitude of the villagers made the God Indra very angry.

In anger, Lord Indra punished Vrindavan (Brajbhoomi) with terrible continuous rains and thunderstorms. The strong rain lasted for severally days and the village was full of water everywhere. This made the inhabitants of the village left helpless. So, the people approached Krishna to protect them. So, little Krishna lifted the Govardhan hill with the little finger of his left hand. The people stayed under this mountain for nearly seven days. The village people were also astonished by seeing the big hills balanced on the little child's finger. By seeing the divine powers of Little Krishna, Lord Indra stopped the strong rains and apologized to Krishna for his mistakes. Then, Krishna forgived the mistakes of Indra.

On this day, people remember this incident and they pray to the nature for providing us with prosperity. Some of the people also worship Govardhana hills by offering  vegetarian foods. Some worship Lord Krishna by providing foods arranged in the form of hills to remember Govardhana on this day.

This festival is also known as Annakoot pooja. The fourth day of Diwali is the first day of the new year according to Vikram Samvat Calendar. On this day, people express their gratitude to the Lord Krishna and Govardhan hills for their Charity and Kindness towards the people.
